Techno Metal Post

Helical Piers to Support a Concrete Slab Project in Newbury, UK

Type of Project

Installation of helical piers by Techno Metal Post to support the concrete slab of a 2,153-foot residential extension in Newbury, UK.

Location

Newbury, Berkshire, RG14 (United Kingdom)

Challenges

The site had several significant constraints. Access was limited, requiring precise handling of the installation machine, especially for extraction before placing the final piers. Work was also carried out in challenging weather conditions, which further complicated operations.
Unknown ground conditions turned out to be very loose, requiring a rapid and unexpected supply of additional piers. This adaptation allowed the project to stay on schedule despite the client giving only a one-week notice to start.

Solutions

To meet the technical requirements, 38 Techno Metal Post helical piers, model P3 Ø 3.5 inches, were installed to an average depth of 23 feet. The team responded quickly to ground constraints, ensuring effective resupply and continuous progress.
Despite restricted access, installation proceeded efficiently using the R2D, our compact machine, enabling work to be carried out in narrow or difficult areas. Using Techno Metal Post's helical piles provided a fast, vibration-free foundation solution that minimized disturbance to neighbours, while protecting the ecosystem.

Results / Conclusion

All 38 piers were successfully installed in just six days, despite access difficulties, bad weather conditions, and challenging ground conditions. The Techno Metal Post solution ensured a high-quality result while meeting the client’s tight deadlines. The project now has a solid, durable foundation perfectly suited for a future two-story extension.
