Project Type
Helical Pile Foundations for a Timber Balcony in England
Location
Gloucester, GL2, United Kingdom
Challenges
The project required reliable foundations to support a timber balcony on a two-storey house.
A high degree of accuracy was essential to ensure the four foundation points were correctly positioned and aligned with the balcony’s oak support columns.
The pile heads also needed to accommodate a locating stud to position and secure the oak columns, while providing a solid bearing surface.
Solutions
Techno Metal Post Oxford installed four P2.5 helical piles, each to a depth of 2 metres. The entire installation was completed in just one day.
To meet the project’s specific requirements, each pile was fitted with a standard 200 × 200 mm top plate. A 10 mm thick steel plate was then welded onto the top to create a solid surface for the locating stud used to position and secure the oak columns.
This customised configuration provided the accuracy and support needed for the balcony structure.
Result / Conclusion
All four piles were installed in a single day, providing a stable and accurately positioned foundation for the timber balcony.
The customised plates met the specific connection requirements of the project, allowing the oak columns to be securely positioned and fixed.
This project highlights how Techno Metal Post provides reliable and adaptable foundation solutions for timber structures, as well as a wide range of other projects, from commercial buildings and residential homes to boardwalks and more.
