Restoration of a Wooden Deck Situated on a Slope in Biscarrosse France (Landes - 40)

Description:

This project in Biscarrosse Lac., involved restoring an exotic wood deck complete with a swimming pool, situated at the rear of a villa. Techno Pieux Landes was called in following an insurance claim. The previously installed concrete block foundation was deemed unsuitable, as they were settling and causing the deck to shift. A Techno Metal Post helical pile foundation was selected to support the new wooden deck.

Project Objectives:

• Lay the foundation for a wooden deck with a swimming pool incorporated at its center.
• Work on a site containing different networks and pipes (sewers, cables, etc.).
• Avoid damaging the house's drainage systems located on the worksite.

Specific Challenges:

• Access to the site was restricted, which meant that large machinery could not be used. Techno Metal Post's EM2 machine was able to work from the front of the house to reach the rear, where the foundation for the deck was to be installed, without damaging the existing structure.
• The presence of drainage networks limits operations on the site. Despite this, Techno Pieux Landes is equipped with a versatile EM2 installation machine as well as the necessary permits for working near utility networks (AIPR). Techno Pieux Landes can adapt its working methods to this type of site.

The atypical shape of the structure and the different levels of the wooden deck required 32 Techno Metal Posts type P3-16 to support the framework around the pool.

Thanks to the machine's versatility, the pool at the center of the deck was not damaged.

Load-bearing capacity: 4 tonnes per TMP pile

Torque power per pile: 1000 psi

Driving depth: 3 to 4 meters, 20 to 30 cm above ground depending on location

Details of the deck structure supported by the piles: The deck is made of exotic wood, resting on wooden posts supported by 20x20 cm plates.
