Construction of a timber-frame single house in an off-grid location on Techno Metal Post
Northumberland, United Kingdom
The worksite was on dense, uneven clay soil, made even more complex by the presence of roots from an old cleared forest, as well as existing service trenches. These conditions made the precise positioning of the foundations very difficult.
The remoteness of the site and the lack of connection to the grid also required the use of a portable generator as the only power source for the entire duration of the work, adding further logistical constraints.
Techno Metal Post designed and installed a custom foundation system, combining 123 helical piles (models P3-16 and P2.5-16). To reinforce the stability of the structure, 4 steel beams and 21 Techno Blades were installed to counter lateral forces.
Specific brackets were also manufactured to ensure a strong connection between the piles and the timber frame of the house.
Despite complex soil conditions and difficult site access, the installation was carried out with great precision. The solution implemented provided solid foundations, perfectly adapted to the needs of the project, while meeting the deadlines.
This project demonstrates the ability of Techno Metal Post to offer durable, made-to-measure foundation solutions, even in the most demanding construction environments.
